The short answer: cheap psychic readings are easy to find if you know where to look. 55 of the 242 advisors we audited (23%) charge $3 a minute or less, and 52% charge $5 or less. The cheapest first readings come from welcome offers: Kasamba (3 free minutes, then 50% off) makes a 20-minute reading with a $1.99/min reader cost $16.91, Purple Garden’s $30 credit covers a 15-minute reading at $1.99/min entirely, and Keen gives you 5 minutes for $1. Many budget readers are not beginners: several have 50,000 to 150,000+ readings behind them.

Audited rates: Eastern Alignment audit of 242 advisors on Kasamba, Purple Garden and Keen (data as of October 9, 2026). Mysticsense and SpiritualBlossom figures come from our October 2026 platform reviews. Welcome offers applied exactly as each platform publishes them.
How Cheap Is “Cheap”? The Real Price Map
Across the three platforms we audit advisor by advisor:
| Price band | Share of audited advisors | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| $3/min or less | 23% (55 advisors) | Genuine budget tier; many high-volume veterans |
| $3–$5/min | 29% | Mid-market; the median is $4.99 |
| $5–$10/min | 35% | Established readers |
| Over $10/min | 14% (33 advisors) | Premium, high-demand readers |
The budget tier is deepest on Kasamba, where a third of the audited advisors charge $3 or less. Keen has the fewest budget readers, but its 5 minutes for $1 offer works on any reader, so the cheapest way to try a premium Keen reader is to use those five minutes on them.

The Format Trap: When a Cheap Reader Isn’t Cheap
On Kasamba and Purple Garden, advisors set separate rates for chat, phone and video, and the gap can be enormous:
| Reader | Chat | Voice |
|---|---|---|
| tarot (Kasamba) | $1.99 | $39.99 |
| Love Readings By Sarah (Kasamba) | $1.99 | $24.99 |
| Invincible Insights (Kasamba) | $1.99 | $11.99 |
| Tomorrow By Tabitha (Kasamba) | $3.99 | $1.99 |
The fix is simple: check every rate on the profile and book the cheaper format. For most budget readers that’s chat; for a few, like Tabitha, it’s voice. On Keen, chat and phone cost the same.
Cheap vs Free: What You Can Actually Get for Nothing
No reputable platform offers unlimited free readings, but you can get real reading time free or nearly free:
- Kasamba: the first 3 minutes with a new advisor are free.
- Purple Garden: the $30 first-purchase credit can cover a whole short reading.
- Mysticsense: your first 5 minutes are credited back after your first reading (first deposit of $10 or more).
- Keen: 5 minutes for $1, the cheapest way to test a premium reader.

7 Ways to Pay Less for a Great Reading
- Pick the right offer for your length. For a 15–30 minute first reading, Kasamba’s 50% off usually saves the most; for under 10 minutes, Purple Garden’s $30 credit or Keen’s $1 often wins. Our cost calculator shows the exact crossover.
- Prepare your question. Two or three sentences pasted in at the start saves minutes of typing.
- Choose chat on Kasamba and Purple Garden (unless the profile shows voice is cheaper).
- Ask one question at a time. A focused 15-minute reading beats a rambling 40-minute one.
- Watch the clock. All three platforms show elapsed time; decide your limit before you start.
- Try one welcome offer per platform. Each platform’s first-reading deal is separate, so you can try your top budget reader on each.
- Use the satisfaction guarantee if a first session doesn’t click. Kasamba and Purple Garden offer up to $50 in credit for a first session with a new advisor (request within 7 days); Keen offers up to $25 within 72 hours.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I get a cheap psychic reading online?
Kasamba has the deepest budget tier: about a third of the advisors we audited there charge $3/min or less, and a 20-minute first reading with a $1.99/min reader costs $16.91 with its welcome offer. Purple Garden’s $30 credit covers a 15-minute reading with a $1.99/min reader, and Keen offers 5 minutes for $1.
Are $1.99-a-minute psychics any good?
Many are very experienced. Several of the highest-volume readers we audited charge $1.99 a minute, including Best Psychic Readings (153,514 readings since 2003) and Sparks Of Insight (a perfect 5.0 across 54,146 readings). Look at review count and recent reviews rather than price alone.
What is the cheapest psychic reading site?
By typical rate, SpiritualBlossom ($1.98/min typical) and Mysticsense ($2.17/min typical) are the cheapest sites we review. For a first reading, Kasamba and Purple Garden are often cheaper in practice because of their welcome offers.
Can I get a psychic reading for $1?
Yes: Keen’s welcome offer is 5 minutes for $1 with any advisor. That’s enough for one focused question if you paste in a prepared summary.
How much should a cheap psychic reading cost?
A budget reader charges $1.99 to $3 a minute, so a 15-minute reading costs $30 to $45 at the standard rate, and much less as a first reading with a welcome offer.
Is chat or phone cheaper for psychic readings?
On Kasamba and Purple Garden, chat is usually cheaper: in our audit, 64% of Kasamba advisors and 76% of Purple Garden advisors who list both rates charge less for chat. Keen charges the same for both.
