What Should I Ask in My 3 Free Minutes on Kasamba? 12 Copy-Paste Openers by Situation (2026)

A situation-by-situation script for Kasamba's 3 free minutes. Twelve copy-paste opening messages (ex in no contact, ex with a new partner, a situationship, a crush, a twin flame, marriage, a suspected third party, career, money, a loved one who passed and more), what a strong first reply looks like, the follow-up questions for the paid minutes, and which readers on our audited Kasamba list answer fast enough to make three minutes count.

The short answer: paste one opening message you wrote in advance: a first name, one line of situation, and one open question, about 25 to 40 words. For example: “Hi, I’d like a read on Daniel. We broke up in August and haven’t spoken in five weeks. What is he feeling about me right now?” Then let the reader answer. In a typed chat, three minutes is usually one full exchange. Use the free window to see how a reader connects with your situation, and keep your follow-up questions for the paid minutes that come after.

That is the whole method. The rest of this guide is the version for your situation: twelve openers you can copy and edit, what a strong first reply tends to look like for each, the questions worth asking once the paid minutes start, and which readers on our audited Kasamba list answer fast enough that three minutes go a long way.

Why One Prepared Message Beats Typing Live

Three minutes in a chat goes faster than it sounds. The timer is running while you type, while the reader reads what you sent, and while they write back. If you open with “Hi, how are you?” and then start typing your story, a good part of the free window goes on the two of you getting set up.

A message you wrote before you clicked “Chat” changes that. You paste it in the first few seconds, and the reader can spend almost the whole window reading your situation and replying to it. That gives you the most useful thing the free minutes can give you: a full, considered first answer to see whether this reader’s style fits you.

The formula has three parts:

PartWhat to writeExample
Who or whatFirst names, or the area of life”I’d like a read on Daniel.” / “My question is about my job.”
One line of situationOnly the facts the reader needs to orient”We broke up in August and haven’t spoken in five weeks.”
One open questionWhat, how or where, not yes or no”What is he feeling about me right now?”

Keep the whole message to roughly 25 to 40 words. That is long enough for a reader to tune in and short enough to leave the rest of the window for their answer. You can add context later in the paid minutes, once you’ve seen how they work.

Two small things that help:

  • First names only. Most Kasamba readers ask for them anyway, so putting them in your opener saves a back-and-forth. Birth dates matter only if you picked an astrologer or a numerologist.
  • Write it in your notes app first. Then you’re pasting, not composing under a timer, and you can reuse the same opener if you try another reader.

The 12 Openers: Copy, Edit, Paste

Each opener below follows the formula. Replace the names and details with yours. Under each one: what a strong first reply usually includes, and the follow-up questions to have ready if you continue into paid minutes.

1. Your Ex, in No Contact

“Hi, I’d like a read on [his/her name]. We broke up [month] and haven’t spoken in [number] weeks. What is [he/she] feeling about me right now?”

A strong first reply describes their emotional state in some detail: whether the silence is pride, confusion, guilt or simply space, and how they think about you when you come to mind.

Follow-ups for the paid minutes:

  • “What is holding [him/her] back from reaching out?”
  • “Is there anything I can do during this time that helps?”
  • “Do you see contact between us, and roughly when?”

For the day-by-day side of no contact, see our no contact rule calendar.

2. Your Ex Has Someone New

“Hi, I’d like a read on [ex’s name]. We split [month] and [he/she] is now seeing someone. How does [he/she] feel about me now, and how serious is the new relationship?”

A strong first reply separates the two parts: what your ex carries for you, and what the new relationship is built on (comfort, distraction, real fit).

Follow-ups:

  • “Does [he/she] compare us, or think about what we had?”
  • “What do you see for this new relationship over the next few months?”
  • “What would help me most right now: waiting, reaching out, or moving on?“

3. He or She Went Quiet Suddenly

“Hi, I’d like a read on [name]. We were talking every day until [when], and now [he/she] has gone quiet. What’s going on with [him/her]?”

A strong first reply tells you something about their side: stress, fear of getting close, something happening in their life, or a cooling of interest, and how they still see you.

Follow-ups:

  • “Is the distance about me, or about something in [his/her] life?”
  • “Will [he/she] reach back out, and what will that look like?”
  • “How should I respond if [he/she] does?”

If the pattern keeps repeating, our guide to loving an avoidant partner goes deeper.

4. A Situationship

“Hi, I’d like a read on [name]. We’ve been seeing each other for [time] but never defined it. How does [he/she] really see me, and where is this going?”

A strong first reply speaks to how they label you privately, what keeps them from defining it, and which way it’s leaning.

Follow-ups:

  • “Does [he/she] want a relationship with me, or does [he/she] like things as they are?”
  • “If I ask for a commitment, how will [he/she] react?”
  • “What do I need to know to decide whether to stay?”

More on reading this specific dynamic: psychic readings for situationships.

5. A New Crush or Dating-App Match

“Hi, I’d like a read on [name]. We met [where] [when] and have been talking. What are [his/her] intentions with me?”

A strong first reply describes the attraction (physical, emotional, curiosity), how seriously they’re taking it, and whether anyone else is in the picture.

Follow-ups:

  • “Is [he/she] interested in something serious?”
  • “What should I know about [him/her] before this goes further?”
  • “Do you see us becoming a couple?“

6. A Twin Flame or Soul Connection

“Hi, I’d like a read on my connection with [name]. We’re currently [together / separated / in contact on and off]. What stage are we in, and what is this connection asking of me?”

A strong first reply names where the connection sits (meeting, separation, reunion) and what it’s teaching you, rather than only whether it’s “real.”

Follow-ups:

  • “What does [he/she] feel about our connection right now?”
  • “What do I need to work on in myself during this stage?”
  • “Do you see us coming back together, and what would bring that closer?”

Background on the stages: twin flame separation.

7. Your Marriage or Long-Term Relationship

“Hi, I’d like a read on my marriage with [name]. We’ve been together [years], and things have felt [distant / tense / stuck] since [when]. What is really going on between us?”

A strong first reply speaks to the underlying issue (unspoken resentment, stress from outside, drifting routines) and how your partner is experiencing it.

Follow-ups:

  • “What is [he/she] not telling me?”
  • “What would help us reconnect?”
  • “Where do you see us in a year?”

For a proposal-timing question instead, use: “We’ve been together [years]. Where is [name] in [his/her] thinking about commitment and marriage?“

8. You Suspect a Third Person

“Hi, I’d like a read on my relationship with [name]. Something has felt different since [when]. Is there anything or anyone coming between us?”

A strong first reply describes what’s changed in the relationship’s energy and whether it comes from inside the relationship or from someone outside it.

Follow-ups:

  • “Is [he/she] being honest with me?”
  • “What is the other person’s role in [his/her] life?”
  • “How should I bring this up with [him/her]?”

Our guide to third-party readings covers how to approach this calmly.

9. A Career Decision

“Hi, my question is about work. I’m deciding between [option A] and [option B] by [date]. Which path is better for me, and why?”

A strong first reply compares the two options on what matters to you (growth, stability, people, timing) and leans toward one with a reason.

Follow-ups:

  • “What am I not seeing about [option A]?”
  • “How will I feel six months after choosing [option B]?”
  • “Is there a third option I should consider?”

For readers who specialise in work questions: best Kasamba psychics for career and money.

10. Money or a Business

“Hi, my question is about [my business / my finances]. I’m considering [decision] in the next [timeframe]. What do you see for the outcome?”

A strong first reply gives a direction and the main factor behind it, for example timing, a person involved, or a risk to plan for.

Follow-ups:

  • “What is the best timing for this?”
  • “Who or what should I be careful about?”
  • “What would make this more likely to succeed?“

11. A Loved One Who Has Passed

“Hi, I’m hoping to connect with my [mother / husband / friend], [first name], who passed [when]. Is [he/she] with me, and is there anything [he/she] wants me to know?”

A strong first reply comes from a medium, not a tarot reader, so check that the profile lists mediumship before you start. In evidential mediumship the reader may describe a personality, a shared memory or a detail you recognise before passing on a message.

Follow-ups:

  • “Is [he/she] at peace?”
  • “Does [he/she] have anything to say about [specific situation]?”
  • “Is there a sign I can look for that [he/she] is near?”

Our list of the best mediums on Kasamba is ranked for this kind of reading.

12. You’re Not Sure What to Ask

“Hi, I’m at a turning point and not sure where to focus. What is the most important thing for me to know right now?”

A strong first reply names an area of life without being told, and says something specific about it. This opener works well with intuitive generalists who read across love, work and life direction.

Follow-ups:

  • “What is blocking me in that area?”
  • “What should I focus on over the next three months?”
  • “Is there a decision coming that I should prepare for?”

Match Your Opener to the Reader’s Pace

Kasamba readers differ a lot in how fast they reply in chat. That matters more in a three-minute window than at any other point in a reading. In the reader reviews on this site we note each reader’s chat style from client reviews and the reader’s own profile. Here is how that plays out for the free minutes:

ReaderChat style (from our reviews)What fits in 3 minutesBest opener type
Master EnigmaClients: “fast accurate… gets right to the point”A full first answer, often moreAny; strong for #1, #3, #12
Accurate Love ReadingsSelf-described fast typer; “quick to understand”A clear, direct first answerLove: #1–#5, #7
Miss BathshebaProfile tag “FAST Professional Honest”; “hits the ground running”A card-anchored first answerLove and career: #4, #7, #9
A Psychic Friend”Quick communicator, direct and to the point”; most readings 5–7 minA large part of the whole readingFirst-timers; any single question
Golden EyeReviews pair “fast and thorough”A first answer across methods#11, #12, mixed questions
ElizabethReflective pace; works for depthThe start of a reading#9, #12 (plan on paid time)
Psychic SimmiSlower typing, deep love readingsThe start of a reading#1, #2 (write a fuller opener)

Neither style is better. Fast readers let you see a lot inside the free window. Reflective readers often give the most considered readings once the session has room to unfold. If you choose a reflective reader, send a slightly fuller opener (closer to 40 words) and expect the free minutes to show you their tone rather than the whole answer.

When the Free Minutes End: Making the Paid Minutes Count

When the timer passes three minutes, the chat continues at the reader’s per-minute rate, and Kasamba’s welcome discount covers the paid minutes of that first reading: 50% off, up to $50 off. (How the $50 cap works at each rate.)

If the first answer felt right, the paid minutes are where the reading deepens. A simple way to use them:

  1. Confirm or add one detail. “Yes, that’s exactly how it’s been. One thing to add: [one fact].” This tells the reader what landed and gives them a little more to work with.
  2. Ask your follow-ups in order. Use the three questions under your opener above, one at a time, and let each answer finish before the next.
  3. End with a practical question. “What’s the one thing you’d suggest I do next?” gives you something to act on, not just something to think about.

Ten to fifteen paid minutes is enough for most single questions. On our first-reading shortlist a complete first session runs roughly $15 to $25 after the welcome discount at $1.99–$3.99/min readers.

If the first answer didn’t fit you, that’s useful to know too. End the chat before the timer passes three minutes, and read a couple more of our Kasamba reader reviews before choosing your next reader.

Chat or Phone for the Free Minutes?

Chat is the better fit for most people, for three reasons:

  • You can paste your opener. Nothing is lost to greetings, connecting or repeating yourself.
  • You keep a transcript. Kasamba says on its 3 free minutes FAQ that all reading transcripts are kept in your account. Rereading a reading a week later is often when its details make the most sense.
  • On some profiles chat costs less after the free time. Golden Eye, for example, is $4.99/min in chat and $10.99/min by voice (our review has the full rates).

Phone is the better fit if you think out loud or find typing stressful. Have your opener written down anyway and read it out at the start.

Five Habits That Make the Free Window Richer

  1. Choose your reader before you open any chat. Read a review or two, check the specialty matches your question (mediumship for #11, love for #1–#8), and check that they’re online.
  2. Ask about the present first. “What is he feeling now?” usually gets a richer answer than “What happens in June?” Present-tense questions give the reader room to describe; timing questions are a good follow-up once you’ve connected.
  3. Let the reader finish. A pause in a chat often means the reader is still typing. A second message from you mid-answer can interrupt their flow.
  4. Answer clarifying questions in a few words. “Yes, still in contact” or “No, he moved out in May” is enough.
  5. Keep a note of what was said. Even with the transcript saved, writing down the two or three lines that stood out helps you see later what came true.

FAQs

What should I ask in my 3 free minutes on Kasamba?

Send one short opening message you wrote in advance: the first name of the person or the area of life, one line of situation, and one open question, about 25 to 40 words in total. Example: “Hi, I’d like a read on Daniel. We broke up in August and haven’t spoken in five weeks. What is he feeling about me right now?” Then let the reader answer. Three minutes of chat is usually one full exchange, so the free window is for seeing how the reader connects with your situation, and the paid minutes are for the follow-up questions.

Should I give the reader names in the free minutes?

Give first names only, yours and the other person’s. Most readers on Kasamba ask for them, and having them in your first message saves the reader from spending your free time asking. Birth dates are only needed if you booked an astrology or numerology reader.

Can I ask a yes-or-no question in the free minutes?

You can, but an open question gets more out of three minutes. “Will he come back?” can be answered in one word. “What is he feeling about me right now, and what happens next between us?” gives the reader room to describe the situation, which is how you see whether they connect with it. Save the yes-or-no timing question for the paid minutes.

Is chat or phone better for the 3 free minutes?

Chat, for most people. You can paste a prepared opener, nothing is lost to greetings and audio set-up, and Kasamba keeps your reading transcripts in your account so you can reread the reading later. Phone suits people who think better out loud, and on some profiles voice costs more per minute than chat once the free time ends.

What if the reader asks me questions during the free minutes?

One or two short clarifying questions are normal, for example confirming a name or whether you are still in contact. Answer briefly and factually. If you want to keep the focus on the reading, you can say: “I’d love to hear what you pick up first, and then I’ll fill in the details.”

What happens when the 3 free minutes end?

The session continues at the reader’s per-minute rate, and Kasamba’s welcome discount applies to the paid minutes of that first reading (50% off, up to $50 off). If you want to stop at the free window, end the chat yourself before the timer passes three minutes. If the first answer resonated, have two or three follow-up questions ready so the paid minutes go straight to what you came for.
